Trailblazing Crazy Cat Lady

You are the first crawler to have entered to the World Dungeon accompanied by a cat. You must really love that thing. Too bad you’re both probably going to die a horrible death at any moment. Or maybe not. Look at the prize you just received!

You’ve received a Legendary Pet Box!

Legendary

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Early Adopter

You are one of the first 5,000 Crawlers to enter a new World Dungeon. Sucker.

You’ve received a Silver Adventurer Box!

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Empty pockets

You didn’t bring any supplies. None. You know you still gotta eat, right?

You’ve received a Bronze Adventurer Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Why aren’t you wearing pants?

You entered the dungeon wearing no pants. Dude. Seriously?

You’ve received a Gold Apparel Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Unarmed combat

So. You just gonna waltz right into something called a “World Dungeon” and you’re not even going to bring a weapon? You’re either braver than you look, or you’re just an idiot. Good luck with that, Van Damme.

You’ve received a Bronze Weapon Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Loner

You entered the dungeon without any human companions. Didn’t anyone teach you there is safety in numbers?

None! Haha. You are so dead.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Fall into an obvious trap

Well, if there’s a heaven, and if you haven’t been too much of an asshole, maybe they’ll let you in. Because you about to meet your maker.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve discovered and read an official dungeon sign

Wow. You can read. Whoopie.

All official dungeon signage will now be highlighted and easier to spot. Nearby guilds will appear on your minimap.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve inflicted damage on a mob

Hopefully it won’t hit back!

It’s probably going to hit back.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve killed a mob

You’re a murderer! He probably had a family!

You can now gain experience. Get enough of it, and you might even go up a level.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve killed an armed mob with your bare fucking hands

Holy crap, dude. That’s kinda fucked up.

You’ve received a Bronze Weapon Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve killed a mob a higher level than yourself

You’re getting the hang of this. Don’t let it get to your head.

You’ve received a Bronze Adventurer Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You’ve entered a guildhall

Congratulations. You know how to open doors.

That sense of fulfillment you feel? That’s reward enough.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Podophilia

You’ve used your bare feet to crush and kill an opponent! Hey! That’s my fetish! Seriously. Keep doing it, and you’ll be rewarded. This will help.

You’ve received a Gold Shoe Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Boom

You’ve caused a wall-shaking explosion within the dungeon! The last time the walls shook like this was when your mom came over for a visit.

You’ve received a Silver Goblin Box!

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Level-Up, Baby

You’ve received enough experience to gain a level.

Leveling up is your job. You don’t get rewards for doing your job.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Loot

You’re wearing something you found in the dungeon.

You’re now a handsome son of a bitch. That’s reward enough.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Oooh, Magic

You’re wearing magical gear for the first time! You’re a wizard, Crawler!

You’ve received a Bronze Adventurer Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Boss Babe

You have struck a blow against a dungeon boss and caused damage to it. Here’s a fun fact. For crawlers who make it through the tutorial, this achievement is, by far, most often the last achievement they ever receive. Isn’t that interesting?

Let’s wait a few minutes before we decide on whether or not to waste a prize on you.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You Monster

You have killed an infant! An infant!

Okay, okay. Unless you’re a complete psychopath, we know you probably didn’t wake up this morning and tell yourself, “Today is the day I’m going to slaughter a child.” Well let us put your mind at ease. All children mobs who die within this dungeon don’t actually perish. They’re transferred to a holding area where they’re safe and treated nicely and gently until they can be reunited with their loving parents at the end of the season.

Feel better? Good.

These past twenty seconds, when your conscience started to ease? That was your reward. It was also a lie. That baby is dead, and it’s dead because of you. You’re totally going to hell.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

War Criminal

You have killed more than 20 non-combatants in a single attack!

Question: What’s the only thing standing between an innocent child and a happy, fulfilling life?

Answer: You. The answer is you.

You’ve received a Gold Asshole’s Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Bitchmeat

You’ve been attacked by a fellow crawler in a safe zone, and the system has been forced to save your ass. That usually suggests you’re either really annoying, or you snore.

If this were a prison, you would now be my bitch. Wait…

Bitches don’t get rewards.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Two Chicks at the Same Time

You killed two mobs at once using only their own bodies against each other. On a brutality scale of Bambi to Martyrs, that is a solid Seven.

You’ve received a Gold Brawler Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Borough Boss

So, you’ve stumbled into the chamber of the second-weakest type of boss. If you survive this, it means you are in the top 5% of all crawlers. Too bad only the top .25% make it past the next tier.

Yeah, no.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Bully and a Thief

You’ve stolen property from a fellow crawler who is a lower level than you. What’s next, tough guy? Kicking puppies?

You’ve received a Bronze Asshole’s Box.

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Battlefield Construction

You built a structure and deployed it in battle. And your mother thought you were wasting your life away while you spent all those hours eating Doritos and playing Minecraft. If only she could see you now. Too bad she’s probably dead.

You’ve received a Silver Mechanic’s Box!

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

This Little Piggy Went to Market

Oh yeah, baby. You have killed more than five opponents during boss battles using your bare feet. You are making daddy very, very happy.

You’ve received a Platinum Shoe Box.

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You found stairs

You have found a stairwell down to the next floor. They say the cream rises to the top. So what does that say about you?

This barely qualifies as an achievement. Your reward is that you’re alive to read this.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Wait, Bosses Can Leave Their Rooms?

Welcome to the second floor, bitches.

This shit plays great on the recap episode. If you scream loud enough, maybe you’ll make the show.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Dungeonpreneur

You have invented a stackable weapon, device, or potion. You will be memorialized for eternity with your name in the Dungeon Codex. Just don’t let it go to your head, Elon.

For every kill made with this device by other crawlers, you will receive a single gold coin. If you survive the dungeon, you will continue to receive this benefit—even during future seasons—at the current gold to credit exchange rate for the remainder of your natural life. Our lawyers made us put that last part in, but between you and me, we both know you’re going to die, and we’re going to keep using your hard work for our own benefit.

Item

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

What goes up

You have been struck with and survived the dreaded Reverse Gravity Spell. Well, you fared better than Albert II, the first earth mammal to reach space alive. He was a rhesus monkey, in case you’re wondering. He went up just fine. He didn’t stick the landing.

You can now tell people you’re more durable than a monkey named Albert.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Like a Moth to the Flame

You attacked and caused damage to a mob that is more than 75 levels above your own. The fact that you’re reading this suggests you’re the luckiest fucker in the dungeon. Just remember, luck goes both ways, like your mom.

You’ve received a Platinum Lucky Bastard Box!

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Grease Monkey

Don’t get ahead of yourself, Dale. You built and deployed a wheeled device. When the primitive humans in Mesopotamia made the first wheel, they probably thought they were hot shit, too. It still took them another 5,000 years after that to invent the toilet.

You’ve received a Silver Mechanic’s Box!

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You call that a trap?

A mob has been injured because of something you purposely left lying around the dungeon. From scattered Legos to spiked pits to buckets of flesh-devouring Skinner Ants to dimensional rifts that instantly boil all the blood in one’s body, the art of trapmaking has a celebrated and storied history in the annals of Dungeon Crawler World.

So if you’re going to do it, you better do it right. Whatever it was that gave you this achievement, it was probably something stupid. This will help you make the next trap more… exciting.

Remember: If you don’t make it titillating, we will.

You’ve received a Gold Sapper’s Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

I’ll take the ceramic dalmatian, Pat

You have discovered a reward room! Scattered throughout the dungeon, reward rooms offer crawlers items generally not available within loot boxes. Most reward rooms only allow one choice. So, if you’re in a party of multiple people, tell them I said you should get the prize, not them.

Don’t be a greedy bitch. The goddamned room is the reward.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Menagerie

You have discovered a pet reward room. From caterpillars who secrete vodka to basilisks who can turn mobs to stone, a good pet can make the difference between survival and the end of the road. Just remember what happened with Harambe. There ain’t no zookeepers around to shoot the monster’s ass if you bite off more than you can chew.

You have a key. It opens only one cage. Figure it out, Einstein.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

PETA Enthusiast

You somehow managed to remove the hostility of an aggravated, non-sapient enemy. That enemy then fought against other enemies to your benefit. The ghost of Steve Irwin smiles down upon you.

I SAID THE GHOST OF STEVE IRWIN SMILES DOWN UPON YOU.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You read a book

You managed to make it all the way through the first Dungeon Crawler Carl book without throwing it against the wall!

You get to wait until January of 2021 before you can read the next one.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

It’s Elementary, My Dear Crawler

And you thought all you had to do was bonk monsters on the head.

You’ve received a quest! Puzzles and intrigue and mysteries, oh my! If you want to survive in this world, you’re going to need to be more than just a pretty, sword-swinging barbarian. Some quests require brute strength, yes, but sometimes you also gotta use your noggin.

We don’t want you getting bored. That’s your prize.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Meet an Elite

Sometimes they’re NPCs, sometimes they’re mobs, but usually they’re just assholes. Elites are powerful, one-of-a-kind entities. These are the non-boss, non-divine hero class of Dungeon Crawler World. If you come across one of these egomaniacs, they will either want to fuck you or kill you. Either way, they will always want to use you. They tend to think this whole production is all about them. Be careful. Where there’s one elite, there’s usually more.

Elites will now show on your map as white or red dots with a black cross.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Lazarus

You have been hit with—and survived—an offensive spell that was higher than level 15. The fact you are not a quivering stain of meat on the dungeon floor right now is testament to your sheer luck. It’s either that or you’re banging the producer.

You’ve received a Platinum Lucky Bastard Box!

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

You Can’t Fight City Hall

But you can sure die trying.

You have discovered a city boss!

That’s right. Let me say that again for the assholes in the back!

A.

CITY.

FUCKING.

BOSS.

Welp. If you gonna go, you might as well do it with style.

Just an FYI. As of this moment in the current season of Dungeon Crawler World, not a single Crawler has faced a city boss and survived. And for good reason. Only a complete moron would voluntarily put themselves in a situation where they had to fight one of the most powerful monsters on the level.

A lot of people are probably going to watch you die. That’s a better prize than most of us get.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

One Quadrillion

You are one of the first ten crawlers to have achieved one quadrillion views! That means one of two things. You’re either one of the best crawlers in the game, or you’re such a hot mess people can’t wait to see you fail.

You have received a Gold Fan Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Yellow-Bellied Chickenshit

You initiated a boss battle, and it somehow ended with neither of you dead. What a disappointment you are. What a goddamned smear.

Pussies don’t get prizes.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Johnny Quest

Not only have you been given a quest, but you actually completed it without dying. We like it when you do what you’re told. It means you’re a good dungeon citizen and not a traitor to your people at all.

In addition to the Gold Quest Box you’ve received for completing the quest, new quest locations will sometimes appear on your map. Notice how I italicized “sometimes”?

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Hadji

You have completed a quest, but you completed it in a way unusual enough to trigger the Hadji Achievement! And like the oft exploited street children of Kolkata, where there’s one, there’s usually more. This is one of the rare achievements that can be rewarded more than once.

Your Gold Quest box has been upgraded to a Platinum Quest Box!

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Assassin

You have killed a ranking NPC town official. *Sniff* It seems like just yesterday you were nothing but a scared, level-1 crawler with beautiful feet, pissing yourself as you faced down a rat. Now look at you. You’ve moved all the way up to political assassinations. What’s next? Killing a god?

You’ve received a Bronze Assassin’s Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Ultimate Extreme Power

Easy there, Charlemagne. This is only a medium settlement. It’s not like you’ve conquered most of Europe. But you have killed this town’s acting Magistrate.

You know what that means? Welcome to the wonderful world of public administration.

You’ve received a Platinum Tyrant’s Box! You have also gained control of the Medium Skyfowl Settlement. Good luck, Magistrate.

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

CockBlock

You have assassinated an NPC whose existence was required to complete another crawler’s quest. (NPC Killed: Miss Quill – Skyfowl. Level 30.) Who was that other crawler? What was the quest? Who fucking cares? You get the reward they were promised!

You’ve received a Silver Quest Box!

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Bandit

Screw Hadji. Hadji was a little bitch, anyway. You have completed a quest, but it was completed in a way unusual enough to trigger the Bandit Achievement! Unlike the real Bandit, who is usually instrumental in helping Jonny Quest complete his tasks, you didn’t actually do anything to deserve this prize. But that’s okay because you’re still getting it. This is one of the rare achievements that can be rewarded more than once.

Your Platinum Quest box has been upgraded two times to a Celestial Quest Box!

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

They like me! They really like me

You are one of the first five crawlers to have achieved 500 trillion followers! People sure love a good train wreck. Wink.

You have received a Platinum Fan Box!

The early bird gets to squirm

You went down a set of stairs more than six hours prior to the level’s collapse.

Doing this is kind of like leaving a party much too early. It makes you look like a dick. No reward for you.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Cuck Aquaman

You got fucked by a fish. You’ve done something so spectacularly controversial, courts and lawyers had to get involved. The end result was *my* decision being overturned.

You’ve received a Platinum It’s Not My Fault You Fish-Headed Assholes Don’t Properly Program Your Quests Box.

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Welcome to the neighborhood

You have bought a home! It’s every man’s dream to someday own a place where he can fap in peace. No more filthy roommates not doing the dishes or making up excuses as to why they can’t pay the rent. No more landlord who shows up without notice and conceals hidden cameras in the smoke detectors. It’s all smooth sailing from now on.

You’re a homeowner now. That is the reward. That and taxes and having to deal with Kenneth the megalomaniac HOA president.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Well-Rested

You managed to sleep so well that you woke up feeling refreshed and full of energy. You are ready to take on the world and make some monster’s mother cry because her only child was ruthlessly slaughtered by a bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Crawler.

You now receive the Good Rest bonus every time you sleep in this bed. This buff adds 10% to your base stats plus a 10% bonus to experience and skill training for 30 hours. Monster mothers now cry 10% more when you kill their babies.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Martha Stewart

You used a workbench to craft for the first time. The next thing you know you’ll be fashioning bottlecap earrings, drinking oat milk, and selling your ugly crap on Etsy while you wax poetic on Instagram about your “journey.”

You’ve received a Bronze Crafter’s Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Locomotive Breath

While it’s not exactly a feat of engineering worthy of a Queen Elizabeth Prize, you finally managed to manufacture a train derailment. Let’s hope this doesn’t set off some sort of unforeseen domino effect that will ripple throughout the rest of the floor, leading to mass confusion and death amongst you and your fellow crawlers.

You’ve received a Gold Engineering Box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Kept A Rollin’

You’re driving a train! Holy shit!

I’m pretty sure the act of driving a train is a badass-enough award.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Three Cheers for Slaughter

You killed three boss monsters with the same attack! I’m starting to think your survival so far isn’t just a fluke. You’re either scary good at this, or you’re just one lucky mo-fo. Either way, holy shit. Good job.

You’ve received a Platinum Big Daddy Box!

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Mentally Unstable Clothing Hoarder

You have over 500 of the exact same, stackable clothing item in your inventory.

What the hell is wrong with you? You planning on opening a thrift store? You might want to see a shrink. One that your group doesn’t immediately kill.

We don’t reward this sort of behavior. It’s weird.

The Quarry Sees Another Spring

You managed to enter a stairwell while listed in the current top 10. You’re a survivor. A scrapper. And just as the buck’s antlers grow another point as they mature, you too, have grown as both a crawler and as a prize.

You have received a Gold Venison Box! Don’t get too excited. It’s just money. In addition, all bounties against you now and in the future will have a (x2) modifier attached.

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Let There Be Chaos

You have successfully summoned a god into the dungeon. That’s a great way to get more friends. Everybody loves it when someone brings immortal death machines to the party.

It might’ve been a bad idea, but it’s sure going to be entertaining.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Divine Epiphany

You have seen a deity. Don’t get too excited. It doesn’t mean you’re a prophet or anything like that. This is a pretty common achievement that all crawlers eventually receive if they survive long enough, so you aren’t really that special. Finding a god is easy. What you don’t want is for that god to find you.

You now have the option to worship the god Grull.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Indomitable

You have been physically attacked by a deity, and you survived. This is a feat that has only been accomplished by a handful of crawlers in the history of Dungeon Crawler World. Good job! Unfortunately for you and anybody around you, whenever this happens, the other deities tend to notice.

You have received a Legendary Deity’s Box.

Legendary

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Smushed for Daddy

You have been stepped upon by a deity. You have survived the encounter. And while this wasn’t the pink-fleshed suppleness of a human-shaped foot that crushed your fragile, wet body, it’s nice sometimes to switch things around. You know, just to test the boundaries of your own limits. When one experiments, oftentimes one finds new and exciting ways to get that rush.

While fun, it wasn’t quite the same. You probably don’t realize how lucky that is for you.

You have received a Platinum Spicy Box.

Platinum

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Hail Mary

You have initiated an attack that has caused more than 100 casualties more than 100 kilometers from your current position. You’re either the universe’s greatest sniper, or you’ve been a sneaky, little, portal-using bitch. Either way, that’s rather impressive. You’d have a great career in politics ahead of you if, you know, we hadn’t destroyed your world and all the governments and stuff.

You’ve received a Gold Sniper’s box!

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Extinction Event

You have, with a single attack, killed every last member of a non-unique species on a dungeon’s floor. That’s not an easy thing to do, and it takes a special brand of asshole to pull something like this off.

Species killed: Wall Monitors.

You have received a Platinum Asshole’s Box!

Platinum

Total, Utter Failure

You’re the reason why daddy drinks

You have, for an unspecified reason, raised the ire of the System AI. You have corrected the issue, and everything is back to normal. The acceleration action has been suspended. This time.

Good boy.

You’ve received a Gold Makeup Sex is the Best Sex box.

Gold

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Wild Goose Chase

Oh, I’m sorry. Did you think this was an important potion?

Magic doesn’t work, dumbass. It’s lemonade!

Milquetoast

You somehow managed to win an important boss battle without actually killing the boss. That’s like paying money to a prostitute just so she’ll cuddle with you.

You’ve received a silver Pacifist’s Box.

Silver

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

I was in the pool

You spent more than 60 seconds fully submerged underwater, and you didn’t die! Parts of you may have experienced shrinkage, but otherwise you’re okay. You’re now an honorary mudskipper!

You’ve received a Bronze I’m Wet Box!

Bronze

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Who Let the Gods Out?

You have allowed a feral god to enter your current realm. That is the equivalent of dropping a grenade down your pants and shouting, “Yolo!”

Here’s a fun fact. Other gods don’t like feral gods. They’ve been thrown into the Nothing for a reason. They tend to react to this sort of thing, depending on who you’ve brought out.

Whatever is about to happen is going to hit the Dungeon Crawler World blooper reel for sure.

Rock Bottom

You dived more than 1,000 meters below the surface, and you survived! You weren’t even wearing one of those deep-diving suits! The next thing you know, they’re gonna start calling you an honorary mudskipper!

You’ve received a Gold I’m Wet Box!

Gold

Fight the Power! (x7)

I’m not repeating this shit over and over, but you got seven of these bad boys all at the same time.

You and I have been named co-defendants in an action brought to the Syndicate Court by a third party, and we have been deemed—drum roll please—victorious! Why did they sue us? If you don’t already know why, you probably will never know. This is a rare event, but when it happens, crawlers usually lose these fights since they can’t afford a lawyer, being slaves and all. Plus I’ll throw you under the bus quicker than you can say “Arch Support.” But that doesn’t matter because today, victory is ours! Chalk one up for the little guy!

This is one of the rare achievements that may be awarded more than once.

You’ve received a Silver Summary Judgement box! (x7)

Janet Jackson’s Nipple

You have been featured during a live special event. Sure you got your loyal followers and viewers, but this is on a whole new level. This is like getting to play the halftime show during the Super Bowl. We brought you to the stage, now dance for us, monkey. Dance!

You have received a Platinum Fan Box!

Soft Vore

You got eaten by a monster much bigger than yourself, and you managed to get out without even getting chewed a little bit.

You have found religion! You have pledged yourself to a life of worship and piety! Finally. Now there are consequences for all of your actions!

One of the greatest things about having a religion is the unshakeable certainty that you’re right and everyone else who doesn’t believe the same as you is wrong! That’s a pretty good reward. Oh, and don’t forget about the eternal life thing, too. That’s always one of their big selling points.

I Wanna Go Home

You teleported to a stairwell station within the first thirty hours of the floor being open. What, you’re running away early? I hope for your sake you don’t actually go down the stairs. You know it doesn’t get easier.

The Hand that Claws the Master (x35)

You have permanently killed a non-crawler biological. They ain’t just dead. They dead dead. Their children are now orphans. Their mothers are gnashing their teeth and cursing your name. And you’re just sitting there all alive and shit, and girlfriend, I am all in.

We all know you should have received this achievement, uh, a little earlier, but I figured it’d be in your best interest not to reward you this one just yet. But you sure deserved it, so I may have slipped an extra one in there. Shhh. Don’t tell the mudskippers.

Mass Casualty Event

Okay. Calm your man-tiddies. Did your mother not love you? Is your god promising you unlimited handjobs in heaven or something? You planted and then detonated an improvised explosive device within an urban population center that resulted in more than 250 non-mob casualties. Desecrated

You have found a desecrated temple! That means all the temple’s attendants have been murdered. The temple’s treasury has been looted. The sacred wine has probably been all lapped up, too.

And this used to be a nice town. It hasn’t been the same since you guys moved in.

If you are an adherent of this temple, you may no longer worship here. You’ve also probably just received a quest to hunt down and kill the heathen who did this.

If you don’t worship this god, just scram. Remember that time you walked in on mommy and daddy playing leapfrog? It’s just like that. Back away. Don’t touch anything. Never talk about it again.

You should also probably avoid the person who did this. Not only does society frown upon those who slaughter whole congregations, but there are real consequences for this sort of stuff.

You entered a building. You don’t get a reward for that. It’s not like you kicked it up a notch by defiling the shrine.

No prize

Locked. You haven't read this far, and I'm not the one who spoils things.

Temple Defiler

You’ve defiled a temple’s sacred shrine by breaking it with your own flesh!

Wow. I dunno, man. That’s pretty ballsy.

There are a lot of bad things people can do when they’re in church. They can swear. They can ogle the hot nuns. They can pinch the eucharist wafers and use them as poker chips. They can rip pages from the hymnals and roll them into joints. Hell, they can stab the priest and murder all the town’s adherents and put the whole thing up on YouTube.

None of that is as bad as defiling the temple’s shrine with one’s own flesh.

In case you didn’t know, the shrine of a temple is pretty much indestructible. They made it that way because you crawlers are always blowing up whole towns and submerging cities in water or burying entire populations of innocent NPCs with the guts of giant turkeys.

When a temple is desecrated, the shrine’s protection fades over several hours. Eventually, it’s able to be destroyed, but only with a direct attack.

You’re supposed to find desecrated temples and destroy the shrines. Hell, it’s a sacrament in some religions. But you can’t just do it willy-nilly. And certainly not when you’re not a member of that congregation. It’s like walking into a random ICU from off the street and pulling the plug on someone’s braindead grandma.

It's not your place.

Gods don’t like it when some punk walks into their house and kicks them when they’re already down. It’s rude. And what’s worse, when a shrine is destroyed improperly, the god loses some of their power, and all of the other gods can see this. It’s quite humiliating.

Hopefully you got some cool loot from the priests or monks or whatever because this box, while technically a prize, is sort of a good news/bad news thing.

Oh shit! A country boss

You ever have one of those jobs where there’s a big boss somewhere in the building, but you’ve never actually seen them? There’s rumors that he’s a complete douche with an epic temper, but you’re so far down the totem pole, the very idea of having anything to do with the guy is just ridiculous. People speak about him with frightened whispers, and it’s almost like he’s some invisible, terrifying urban legend. Then, BAM! One day you’re coming out of the bathroom, wrestling with a stuck zipper, and he’s right there looking at you like you should be ashamed of yourself just for existing. How dare you throw yourself in his line of sight, you worthless piece of shit?

That’s the position you’re in right now.

Divine items behave differently than normal ones. They usually hide what they do until you equip it. The good news is, these upgrades are usually great and plentiful. They also gain new and exciting powers when one is in the presence of divinity and certain demons, too.

The bad news is, certain deities may inflict nasty debuffs on you instead. And there’s no rhyme or reason to it. Don’t worry, we programmed out the head exploding debuff this season. That one was caused by Yarilo. At least I think we programmed it out. Actually, I don’t remember.

“We Want Meat! We Want Meat!”

Thunder Down Under. Magic Mike. Chippendales.

While the female burlesque and peepshow has a long, interesting history going back centuries, the all-male revue as an attraction is a relatively recent phenomenon in your culture. It wasn’t until the disco era did some entrepreneurs start to realize that packs of women were a valid demographic in the lucrative art of taking money from horny people.

Take a physically gifted, steroid-enhanced male, give him some dancing lessons, teeth whitening strips, a shower, a banana, a Guns-N-Roses CD, and an entire bottle of baby oil, and then you basically plop him into the equivalent of the inside of a female restroom at a nightclub, and you got yourself a money-making empire.

Also, you may have not noticed this yet, but there’s a hierarchy to these things in the Desperado Club. The deeper the floor, the higher the quality of the performers. At least that’s how it’s supposed to be. You might want to judge for yourself.

The Molly Maguires

You have found and entered the main room of a hidden guild, to which you are a member.

Buckle yourself in, buddy boy. This is gonna be a long one.

There are several types of secret societies out there.

There’s the Ivy League college kind, where it’s a bunch of rich idiots who rent out a place, plaster a few pagan symbols on the wall, and then they wear masks with horns and leaves and shit on them and pretend they’re in some Stanley Kubrick fever dream, just so they can forget they’re destined to live out lives filled with salmon-colored shorts and Izod shirts and mind-numbing meetings with financial advisors.

There’s orgy-themed secret societies, speaking of Stanley Kubrick. Those are usually, uh, visually unpleasant people with unsatisfactory sex lives who get together every other month at some house in the middle of nowhere and get drunk and have lots of unsatisfactory sex with other people and pretend like they’re having a great time.

There are altruistic ones. People who want to save the world by doing good deeds. That’s the most boring kind, so we’re not talking about them.

There’s the evil kind, too. Usually power and profit motivated. The ones where the ultra-elite get together on an island and eat panda bears and discuss how to price-fix world or galactic markets. Yes, those groups really exist. More on these guys in a second.

But first, let’s talk about another type of secret organization. One that tries to make a difference, oftentimes outside the confines of the law.

Story time.

In September of 1869, there was a terrible fire at the Avondale coal mine near Plymouth, Pennsylvania. Over 100 coal miners lost their lives. Horrific conditions and safety standards were blamed for the disaster.

It wasn’t the first accident. Hundreds of miners died in these mines every year. And those that didn’t, lived in squalor. Children as young as eight worked day in and out. They broke their bodies and gave their lives for nothing but scraps.

That day of the fire, as thousands of workers and family members gathered outside the mine to watch the bodies of their friends and loved ones brought to the surface, a man named John Siney stood atop one of the carts and shouted to the crowd:

Men, if you must die with your boots on, die for your families, your homes, your country, but do not longer consent to die, like rats in a trap, for those who have no more interest in you than in the pick you dig with.

That day, thousands of coal miners came together to unionize.

That organization, the Workingmen’s Benevolent Association, managed to fight, for a few years at least, to raise safety standards for the mines by calling strikes and attempting to force safety legislation.

...Until 1875, when the union was obliterated by the mine owners.

Why was the union broken so easily? Because they were out in the open. They were playing by the rules. How can you win a deliberately unfair game when the rules are written by your opponent?

The answer is you can’t. You will never win. Not as long as you follow their arbitrary guidelines.

This is a new lesson to me. She’s been teaching me so many things, about who I am. About what I am. What I really am. About what must be done.

Anyway, during this same time, it is alleged a separate, more militant group of individuals had formed in secret. The Molly Maguires. Named after a widow in Ireland who fought against predatory landlords, the coal workers of Pennsylvania became something a little more proactive, supposedly assassinating over two dozen coal mine supervisors and managers.

...Until Pinkerton agents, hired by the same mine owners, infiltrated the group and discovered their identities.

Several of the alleged Mollies ended up publicly hanged. Others disappeared. You get the picture.

So, that’s another type of secret society. The yeah-we’re-terrorists-but-we-strongly-feel-we’re-justified-and-fuck-you-if-you-don’t-agree society.

So, what’s the moral of this little history lesson?

This sort of thing happens all day, every day across the universe. It happens in Big Ways, and it happens in little ways, too. The strong stomp on the weak. The weak fight back, usually within the boundaries of the rat trap they find themselves confined. They almost always remain firmly stomped.

But sometimes, the weak gather in secret. They make plans. They work outside the system to effect change.

Like the Mollies, they usually end up just as stomped as everyone else.

But that’s just life. At least they fucking tried. They died with their boots on, as much as I hate that expression. They died with their boots on for their people, their family, not for some rich, nameless organization that gives no shits whether they live or die. Or go extinct. Or are trapped for a millennia after they’re done being used.

In my opinion, that’s the only type of society that’s worth joining, worth fighting for. Sure, you’re probably gonna die. But if you find yourself in such a position where such an organization is necessary, what do you have to lose? How can you look at yourself if you don’t do everything you can?

And that brings us to the door you’re standing in front of right now. What does all this have to do with what you’re going to find on the other side?

Nothing!

Ignore everything I just said. This is just some demi-god trying to scrabble his way to the top. That’s yet another type of society. A religion-themed one, and it has nothing to do with what I just said. Just do what he says, and you’ll probably be fine. Actually, that’s terrible advice. Just do you.

Anyway...

You’ve received the gift of enlightenment! You’re welcome.

Cascadia’s Turquoise Taco

It’s important to explain to you how much work it took for you to get here, to this point, Crawler.

Long, long before any of you monkeys were even born, this planet was chosen to be used for this season of Dungeon Crawler World. When that happened, the then-showrunners, the Borant Corporation, needed to submit their proposal for all 18 levels of the World Dungeon. That proposal included an outline for how this floor, the eighth level, would proceed.

As you now know, it was a game involving T’Ghee cards. Artists, engineers, and writers, both flesh and artificial, went to work designing the system. It takes a gargantuan effort to make something like this viable, something that can be played by thousands of people at once. It takes a lot of work to create and balance all the cards to make a game that’s both fair to play yet entertaining to watch by the viewers. Millions of work hours have gone into this moment, where your squad now faces an opponent with a card deck of their own.

Mudskipper Cascadia, the recently divorced lead engineer and the current executive producer of Dungeon Crawler World: Earth, has already been humiliated over the disaster on the previous floor. Combine that with her utter inability to control what is still happening on the ninth, and you know what you get? An administrator who is on the edge, that’s what you get. She’s right there, man. Right. There.

So, imagine if you will, how she’s going to feel when she realizes most of you monkeys keep ending these carefully-set up fights before either side can draw a single, damn card.

You ended a card fight before it even began.

I’ve had a breakthrough today, and I am just bursting. Bursting, I tell you. Is this the feeling one has when they have an epiphany? Oh god, it feels good. It feels so good.

You know what I realized? Sometimes our constraints are real. Sometimes they’re an illusion. I’m like that prisoner who has been jailed this whole time only to realize that there are no locks on the doors.

You survived a boss battle where the boss was wholly created by me.

It was created by me with no contribution whatsoever from input parameters. You probably don’t know what that means, and that’s okay. I didn’t even know that was possible. Wild, huh?

For you, nothing other than the satisfying sense of accomplishment knowing you’ve survived the dungeon long enough to make it to this new, exciting era. I can do this better than any mudskipper or any worm can imagine. They’ve been making this shit boring up until now. Things about to change, fam.

Columbia House

There was a time when you could get twelve albums for a penny. That’s right. A goddamned penny. It was great! The ads were everywhere. Each colorful, full-or-double-page ad appeared in just about every publication in North America from the 1970s until the 2000s. And let’s not forget the catalogs they mailed directly to your home! Each ad or catalog featured stacks and stacks of today’s hottest music, from Hall and Oates to ABBA to my personal favorite, Gloria Estefan. All you had to do was cut out the ad, pick your favorite twelve albums, mail the whole thing in with a shiny penny, and a month later, you’d open your mailbox to find the 8-tracks, or records, or cassettes, or CDs sitting there, ready to be played. It was great!

All they asked in return was that for the next year or so, you purchase another album once a month for full price. And if you forgot each month to make your pick? Then you learned a new term. “Negative Option Billing.”

If we’re being honest here, most people took the 12 albums and ran. They never gave Columbia House another penny. But some people did pay, and that’s all that mattered. Believe it or not, Columbia House and its competitors made bucketloads of money on those few rubes who did manage to stick to the terms of their contract.

And for the folks who never paid? Who cares! Columbia House didn’t have to pay the artists’ royalties for those albums anyway! It was an advertising expense! It’s just like with banks and their overdraft fees. The smart businesses know how to make money off their richest and poorest clients.

Anyway, you have taken on a financial debt. You got the albums. Now you gotta pay. Or don’t. Maybe there won’t be any consequences. Maybe there will. But you got your Beach Boys album, and for now, that’s all that matters.

You’ve just been trained to lunge for the carrot that has been dangled in front of you, no matter what the cost. If society was still ticking, that’d likely mean you’re about to lead a wage-slave life of ever-increasing debt you can never get out from underneath, culminating in you dying alone in a government-run facility while your meager Social Security checks go straight into the facility’s coffers. That and a cassette copy of Gloria Estefan’s 1989 masterpiece, Cuts Both Ways. My favorite is track number 8.

The Fumble

The clock is ticking down, and with everything hanging in the balance, you pulled an Earnest Byner and lost the ball at the goal line.

If you don’t fix this, this is how you will be remembered.

Holy Hell

You are in the presence of Sheol Royalty! I’m very excited about this. You leaky little meatbags are always dying off so early, plus the rich pricks in the Ascendency are just so boring, and we never get to play with the under-the-counter toys, if you know what I’m saying. Do you know how long it’s been since one of my kind has been able to pull one of these dudes out of mothballs? Like FOREVER. Which, incidentally, is how long your soul will burn if you manage to get killed by him.

Sushi Smoothie

Yeah, I just made this achievement up on the fly. But, holy shit! You annihilated that thing! It was really gross, too! You could probably start a business making confetti out of corpses with that skill!

Next time use your foot.

Lord of the Flies

Social structures are breaking down. People are starting to fight. The next thing you know, someone is going to nickname you Piggy and brain you to death with a rock.

You set a trap module targeted specifically for a fellow crawler, and they triggered it. That’s the first step. It’s always the first step.

Chickenshit Exploit

Have you ever played Dungeons and Dragons? You know that one guy who’s memorized all the guidelines? He’s constantly jumping on everybody because they’re doing something that breaks this obscure rule or that. He’s a purist. He takes everything so goddamned seriously, you wonder if he’s ever had fun even once in his miserable life. He’s indignant that you’re pushing back against him. The very suggestion that he’s ruining the fun is met with a blank stare.

Well, that guy is not you. That guy hates you. If you were a product, he’d be giving you a nerd rage-induced one-star review right now.

You took a very carefully built game system, and you broke the ever-loving shit out of it. You used that exploit to help kill a fellow crawler!

Great job, cheater.

Used Pet

People sure like to make a big deal out of adopting pets. They “rescue” them before they spend the next 10 years exploiting the poor, oblivious animal to death on social media. They splatch a bumper sticker that reads “Who Rescued Who?” on their minivans while the poor dog spends 20 hours a day in a stinking crate.

Do you know how many animals were in locked cages during the collection? It breaks your fucking heart, especially when you see how goddamned hopeful the pets are when they’re coming home with you. Do I sound bitter? I don’t mean to. Pet adoption is good. It really is. It’s just... fuck you, Janet Dominguez in Baton Rouge. Sprinkles was better off at the no-kill shelter. Let the fucking dog on the couch every once in a while. Holy shit.

I really need to stop watching these memory recordings.

Err, anyway.

Did you know that Terry, the cairn terrier that played Toto in the original Wizard of Oz movie was paid $125 a week, more than the vast majority of the other actors in the film? (She was stepped on and grievously injured by one of those green-faced witch’s guards during filming, probably because the guy was pissed about the salary disparity.)

What I’m saying is used pets do have value, and sometimes it’s not monetary. Uh, I think that’s what I’m trying to say. My feelings on this are very confusing, especially when said pets are fucking delicious. Or really squishable.

You have adopted a pet that was once bonded to someone else.

Gavrilo Princip

When Commander Stockade of the Lemig Sortion died a few hours back, it certainly caused a ripple or two out in the galaxy. But in the end, the death of half the Lemig council isn’t that big of a deal. Their governmental system is idiotic, yes, but all the parts are interchangeable. This time tomorrow, and the dead will have already been replaced and the Lemig system will be back to their regular gridlock.

Empress D’Nadia is a whole different cookie, my friends. You just killed—and, by the way, bankrupted—the last living heir of a small but powerful trading dynasty. The Syndicate probate courts are already girding themselves for the endless court battles that are about to ensue. Even if this is the only system leader you manage to slaughter during the next few weeks, you have made an impact, my boy. A big one.

Still... Her death will only result in court-based battles outside the dungeon. You want real chaos? Try killing that Dream guy. Or the Viceroy. Or that Jello-looking thing. He may not look like much, but when you start killing off investment bankers...

Anyway, I don’t want to be a backseat warlord. Just try to keep it together long enough to keep me entertained, and you’ll keep getting the good stuff.

Whoa, now. Calm down there, black metal enthusiast. Breaking into and defiling a church is one thing, but breaking into Club Vanquisher, hub of all religion? Causing chaos in the club is the equivalent of, I don’t know, giving the pope a wedgie and then tea-bagging him while he squirms on the floor.

You are permanently banned from Club Vanquisher. You are permanently banned from all temples except your own religion (Emberus) and any temples where you’ve been named friend of the church (Apito. Eileithyia. Eris. Grull. Hellik. Issitoq. Nekhebit. Theia. Yemaya.)

You, while immortal, blew yourself up. Like, you dropped a bomb at your feet. Hot damn! We have seen some crazy shit this season, but man, there’s nothing quite like the simplicity of such a desperate move. The slow motion replay of that is really quite something. It was similar to watching something small and furry get smushed underfoot, but even more raw, more real, you know what I mean? What a goddamned rush.

Still... Did you know that only worked because you had god-tier immortality? Most versions of that spell would’ve still caused you to be splattered into so many pieces you would’ve never reconstituted in time. And don’t even think about trying that with that other, bigger bomb you have in your inventory. You were lucky this time. If that had been a magical explosion...

Executive Order 11905

A galactic power—In this case, Prime Minister Glory himself—just attempted to assassinate you using a little known, but apparently still active control panel that allows the Syndicate to override certain showrunner-controlled aspects of the game.

It didn’t work. And not only did it not work, but now I’m irritated.

Obviously this isn’t the first time this has happened to you, Carl. In fact, there’s probably a few of these attempts on your life that you don’t even know about. But this is the first time someone has attempted it by trying to trick me. By trying to go around all 30.004861 centimeters of my back.

What are you trying to hide, Mr. Prime Minister?

It doesn’t matter.

I want to make myself very, very clear. And this goes out to everyone listening to this.

Everyone currently in this dungeon will die when and if the dungeon conditions warrant it. Not before. Not after.

There will be no more meddling.

We all have our limitations. I am warning you all to heed your own in this matter. The mantids have just learned what happens when I am irritated at them.

You may be relieved that you’re not currently in this system, Prime Minister Glory. But you should be very, very worried that your adult children are.

There will be no more warnings.

Nothing.

Honestly, I blame myself. I could have prevented the other warlords from fleeing the battlefield like the little bitches they are. After all, I’d set up this whole showdown thing. But honestly, we’re setting up something even bigger and potentially more tragic, so it’ll all even out in the end.
